growing microgreens with Hamama

Since I last wrote, we have already harvested our first round of microgreens and started the second batch. We are loving watching our little greens grow every day. I ate the first batch sprinkled on my morning avocado or hummus toast most mornings last week. So yummy! And it felt great eating something that I had ‘grown’. These little seeds really make me want to have a garden. Unfortunately we still have snow in our backyard and we probably won’t be growing anything for at least another month. So for the moment, my microgreens are going to have suffice.

Growing microgreens with Hamama is so easy! I came across Hamama when I searched online for ‘easy growing microgreen kits’. With everything going on, I wanted something easy and foolproof. So I purchased a three month supply of mixed microgreen varieties. All seeds are non-GMO and most of them are organic. It really is as simple as you are led to believe. You simply fill the tray with water to the fill line, place the seed quilt in the tray and then pretty much leave it alone for about 10 days. Half way through the process, you will remove the cover of the seed quilt and then top up with water as needed. The seed quilts only need light (regular or natural) and ambient room temperature. I found that I had to add more water than the recommend amount (but I live in Colorado in a very dry climate) and for the first batch, my house was colder than normal due all the snow outside so the seeds took a little longer than posted to start sprouting. But other than that, everything went according to plan. Hamama even sent me fun and friendly emails reminding me what to do when.
