golden milk a.ka. turmeric latte!
Want to replace your caffeinated morning beverage with something new? How about a turmeric latte….
This was how it all began for me. On a mission to find something to replace my morning shot of caffeine, I stumbled upon turmeric lattes otherwise known as golden milk. I have to say that I was a little skeptical about adding milk and turmeric together but I decided that anything was worth trying once. Despite loving morning lattes, I had virtually cut them out of my diet as the espresso was making me jittery and leading to morning munchies. So it has been a while since I have drunk a milk based drink. And I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this foamy mug of spiced milk. It was a little like drinking a spiced chai without the the black tea. I have been experimenting with different recipes but was happy to find this substitute at the store the other day. This is a great option if you don’t have fresh turmeric on hand or don’t have time to make the latte from scratch.
In addition to trying out this new Tazo product, I decided to also test out oat milk for the first time. The verdict? Not bad! I still prefer the unsweetened Califia almond milk or the almond/coconut milk combo but this came in a close second. I was a little put off by the ingredients on the milk (it’s more than just oats and water!) so when I am next at the store I plan on comparing oat milks to see the scoop with the other brands.
But for now, if you want to make golden milk from scratch, then follow the recipe below.
